Re: [RC] riding alone - Jody Rogers-ButtramOk, looks like there are a LOT of us Grinches here on RC. :)) My biggest petpeeve: The rider that has NO clue how to pace. Meaning, they will run past you up a big hill, then stop and walk at the top of it. This really messes your pacing when you are trying to trot steady or even walk up the hills, and then keep a steady pace after you reach the top. Because they blow past you on the hill, thus upsetting your horse, then you have to pass them back at the top, because they have to let their horse "catch his wind" from running up the darn hill !!!! It turns into a leap frog cycle that doesn't end. I end up putting up with it for a little bit, then get pissed and have to alter MY horses pace and spend way up to get away from them. I had to do this recently at a 100 in SC....and I really didn't want to pick up the pace to a canter at 50 miles!!! But, I was sure not going to let those
pains-in-the-butt catch me again. And it worked...finished about 4 hours ahead of them. :)) The Grinch tracey smith <txdistancerider@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
