This is the first mare I've owned and she too kicked once or twice but I've 
about got it beat out of her.  All I have to do now is tell her "don't even 
think about it" if I see or feel any kind of threatening to kick.  I will 
continue to use red ribbons mainly to keep people off her rear.  She's not a 
mean horse but doesn't much care for other horses.
