RE: [RC] Truck pulling capacities - Jannelle Wilde & Adam Falk

I would be more concerned about what you can stop.  Most heavy half ton trucks do not have the brakes needed to haul a trailer that large.  Hills or not you always need to be able to stop in a controlled fashion. The brakes on a ¾ are significantly larger than the heavy half and on a 1 ton they get even bigger.  I have seen to many accidents where the truck had the power to pull the load, but did not have the brakes to stop it.

Subject: [RC] Truck pulling capacities

Hi.  Am interested in feedback on whether anyone has pulled GN (22' floor length with LQ) aluminum with a Heavy Half GMC short box 4 X 4, Vortec V8 350 engine.  We live in a very flat Prairie area, so no need to pull up or down hills or mountains.   Any thoughts on what minimum size truck is required to pull a trailer this size (approx. weight loaded 10 - 11,000 lbs)?  Thanks.
