Re: [RC] Trailer Brake Controller - Sisu West RanchWhen you are sure that the problem is the brake controler, consider the following:I use a Draw Tite brand controler that is also the most inexpensive. I got this when my other controler died during my first trip to MT. It does NOT have any fancy stuff to sense how hard you are braking. You just set how fast you want the brakes to be applied and how much brake. You will find that you have to set it at different numbers depending whether you are in town, or the freeway, or possibly the mountains. You need less total brake in town, and more at speed or in the mountains. The RV dealer who sold it to me said that it was extremely reilable. So far he has proven to be right. My other truck has a controler that is one of the ones that senses the rate of braking and adjusts the amount of trailer brake. It is a set and forget type thing. It has worked well since 1990, so I guess it is reliable. I guess my bottom line is you have to take your choice, convenience or perhaps more reliability. When you do replace the controller, read the directions carefully and set it up properly. It does take some experimentation and care.
