More important to those of us hauling water this winter is this point: horses will only drink so much water. Once they're done drinking, they walk away, right? The water freezes and now you've got to haul more water. Conclusion: only haul the amount of water your horses will drink immediately. I'm the guilty one here. I haul all this water filling every tub I own. My 4 horses come and drink their fill then walk away. What's left is several trips of hauled water! That water will freeze before the horses want another drink which means I've got to haul more water. The extra trips I made are wasted effort.
