Well, at 2-3 months I'd be pretty suspicious of
unmatched markings. Most of the flaxen-feet or
silver-legs of a foal would be gone by then.


Actually, in many foals, the buffy leg hair will remain until the foal
sheds out its yearling spring.  Can't begin to count the number of bay
foals I've raised that has fawn-colored legs until those legs shed out
jet black the next spring...  Sometimes they will get nicks and dings
that takes hair off, and you will see the darker color underneath.  But
sometimes not, too.
