Re: [RC] [RC] I Am In Desperate Need of Advise - Nancy MittsHere's what we did:Used a little grain bucket that holds a gallon or 2, not so heavy. Sitting on the edge of the tank, let the lead horse drink a few sips. Then get up and balance the bucket on the edge of the tank and drink a few more. Then hold the bucket in the water with the edge still above the water till the horse drinks a bit more. Then slowly lower it into the water while horse still drinking. For the really reluctant hold out, after watching all the other horses resume drinking, sticking my own hands in the water and bending down like I was drinking out of the tank did the trick. They didn't have snow to eat as an option, though. And we did this right away while they were still quite thirsty. We quit trying to use electric heaters and went back to breaking ice. Occassionaly the electric fence will get broken and make the tank "hot" again. My mare will beat on the tank until I come fix it. They learned right away that if I can swish my hands in the water it is okay for them to drink again. Nancy Mitts From: IcyPony@xxxxxxx About 6 weeks ago my tank heater shorted out and shocked my 7 horses. enough water. I can't The buckets freeze quickly and the horses don't have free access to water. I'm afraid they will colic. Does anyone have any ideas? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
