Whoa, a 6 inch bit, gotta ask what kind of horse are you riding?
Six inches aside, a loose ring bit shouldn't be pinching the
lips if it fits. I have recently heard a debate about loose vs. egg butt. A
person who sells bits and says she has done
alot of reading about bits says the egg butt is not as forgiving
with imperfect hands as a loose ring. Ok, my dressage instructors begs to
differ and says the opposite <G> I would just try one and see how it works on
your horse. I have my very sensitive mare in a loose ring and she loves it.
My younger horse wasin the same bit (too small for her) and I switched her to a
egg butt french link and so far so good.

A full cheek snaffle does exert pressure on the outside where the cheeks are.
They are often used in jumping as it helps turn the horse by putting pressure
on the side of the mouth.
