[RC] Where do folks ride - Nat NelsonCentral Arizona, Sonoran Desert When I moved to my "new" house nearly 10 years ago, I was the last house on the street to the desert. Now I've got to ride about a mile to Waterman Wash which runs into the Gila River one way and the other goes deep into the desert, providing access to miles of trails and/or cross country riding. There are single track trails, dirt roads, sand washes, hills with moderate to steep inclines, and LOTS of ROCKS! If I want to venture to the Gila River, which is only a mile from my house I have plenty of water to cross. But I stay away from there weekends due to the ATV use. Plus my horse proved to me water isn't an issue at this year's Land Of Sun Ride! We ride year round here, just early mornings in the hot summer months, which is only 3 months out of the year. This year we've had alot of winter rains and the desest is green complete with tall grass and TONS of wild flowers! The saguhros are plump and healthy the ocotillo is full of leaves and about to bloom. The tempatures in the mid 60's to 70's. Great riding weather right now. But if you are thinking of moving here don't forget the high's of 120 degrees in the summer - but it is a dry heat - well most times, except during the monsoon, then it can be 120 degrees with humidity. ~Nat~ Buckeye, AZ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
