Actually the CA statute I was referring to protects landowners
from being awarded damages exactly for negligence. (That's pretty much the only
basis upon which a trespasser would attempt to get damages from a landowner
anyway. So if it didn't dissuade negligence suits, there'd be no point to
the statute.)
