Re: [RC] Where do folks ride - heidiHas there ever been a discussion regarding where folks do their conditioning rides? I wonder if there is any correlation between the folks who can do 100's and if they can do their training rides in their 'backyards' so to speak. One of our biggest disappointments in moving here was that the hill right behind our house is SOOO steep and rocky that it just about precludes riding that direction. However, we can go up the ditch road from our house and up a draw--in summer, we can do a 3000' climb that direction and make about an 18-mile loop, coming home along an "improved" dirt road, or cutting through our neighbor's barnyard and back up the ditch road to cut a couple of miles of road off of it. Or, we can do an 8-mile loop along the outside of the BLM fence behind us, back down through the neighbor's, and home along the dirt road. Or, we can do a 4-mile loop along the BLM fence and back up the ditch road, or visa versa. Additionally, crossing the dirt road near the aforementioned neighbor's, we can go out in some low hills and pretty much ride indefinitely, although it can be a bit boring. When we tire of that, we do have several options (many of which we still have yet to explore) that range from 20 minutes to an hour or so in the trailer--all are USFS or BLM.
