Subject: Re: [RC] THANK YOU LORI YEARWOOD! - LisaI've posted about my hardkeeper Thoroughbred mare lately, and feel like chatting about her feet a bit. These feet have been a challenge for various different reasons, low heels, an old scar in the hoof wall that opened up, feet not 'under' her, feet too brittle, feet too soft. She's also famous for pulling shoes and forging. The farriers I have used since I've purchased this mare have always had a challenge, that's for sure. Like many others have said, isn't what's best for your horse the most important thing? I mean, that's the bottom line, no matter what activity you and your horse decide to do. When done properly, I feel shoeing is a wonderful thing, and when done properly, I feel barefoot is a wonderful thing. So, decide and move on. Who cares what other people think, life is full of lots of opinions. My mare is an absolute joy, we have a blast together. We do some endurance, some dressage and jumping. Being shod works best for her, and do I feel guilty about this? Absolutely not, her feet are very well taken care of, and that's what's most important to me. Peace.
