kids had a pony that reared. Every time they would reach forward and pinch his
ear with their fingernails. Pretty soon the pony would duck his head instead,
every time he thought about rearing. Libby

I managed to get the rear out of my horse Zaraf
after my husband pulled him all the way over when he was rearing. Next
time Z lifted his front feet when resisting something I pulled on the
reins as hard as I could to "try" to pull him over (my heart in my mouth!) and
he planted those front feet and never offered to rear again.
Also had to (before this) pull him over while on
the lunge line for rearing (This can be dangerous for the horse--but I
made that decision because rearing is so dangerous to humans).
A great trainer I know uses a bag of
water--breaks it on the horse's head as he's rearing. That sounds
safer!
Hi All, Been a long time since i posted, hope everyone is
doing well. I am looking for some helpful advice on my problems with
Hogan's rearing issues. If anyone has dealt with this b'f and
wants to discuss it with me I'd be very appreciative. Let me know and
