[RC] trot vs canter, lead training - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: kate kate.kearby@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Doesn't have to be a 'dressage instructor' but an excellent trainer/teacher perhaps in the 'working western' persuesion. it's a matter of good training and horsemanship it's like going to college the investment is there for a lifetime. my mare that loves to canter is stronger in the right lead developing and conditioning her left lead is making her a much better balanced horse, more comfortable all around and easier on me. Run - don't walk to your nearest dressage instructure and invest 3 to 6 months of basic dressage training. I will be the best investment you will ever make for both you and your horse. I want to teach my horse this, but I have (surprisingly, now that I think of it) probably never ridden a horse who could switch leads on command :( I am a little confused about where to begin so the horse understands and what signal to use.
