Re: [RC] Observation re US and WEC - Truman PrevattIf the ride is in the sand you pick horses that prove they can perform in the sand - you don't use mountain rides for selection. If the ride is in the mountains you pick horses that prove they can perform in the mountains - you don't use flat sand rides. If the ride is under humid conditions you chose horses that prove they can perform in humid rides - you don't use rides in arid climates for the selections. The US problem starts in the beginning with the selection process. The location of the WEC and the type of trail should dictate the location of the selection rides. Sure it won't be fair to all. Sure it may mean a great horse from the mountain or west region gets passed over the next time the WEC is in the UAE. However, racing is a zero sum game. There are winners and there are losers - there is little room for "nice guys.". If we want to be winners we will have to bit the bullet and select the team that has the highest probability of success and that is a team that proves it can excel on the WEC trail. The only way to do that is to do your selection on trails in climates that as similar to the upcoming WEC as possible. Truman rides2far@xxxxxxxx wrote:
