RE: [RC] the french team - Adam and JannellePeople don't do well just because they're paid or even if just expenses are paid. Until a few years ago, Olympics athletes were "just" amateurs and America always seemed to do "OK". So I'm thinking the French haven't done well because they're paid and Americans have faltered because they aren't. America dominated the sport (from my "newbie" point of view) for years without being paid. And I would suspect the French were paid while America excelled. So it's not just a "Show me the money" issue.
