Re: [RC] drugs/weg - Chris PausGotta agree with Heidi here. I was on Beta Blockers for nearly a year in 2004. I never felt so slow and sluggish in all my life and gained 8 pounds I didn't need to gain. My doctor finally switched me to another BP med that is not a beta blocker and I have much more energy and have lost that 8 pounds in a month! They work by keeping the heart rate artificially low which in turns means it WON'T get up to aerobic capacity. It's a real catch 22 for active humans with BP problems... I don't know how it affects horses, but it's guaranteed to turn an active human into a slug. chris --- heidi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: one from getting the heart rate UP enough to perform any sort of stupendous athletic feats. Somehow I can't even begin to imagine a horse on sufficient doses of beta blockers to impact the recovery rate being able to run a sub-8 100-miler...
