Re: [RC] Heart beats - rides2farAll ride management should do is to authorize the use of hand helts or the stethoscope. Then, there is only one standard of measurment. No conflict. All pulses will be taken equally. Only if the same person uses the stethoscope on every horse. :-P Personally, the Hand held was a big help to me. Kaboot had a habit of looking around and having his pulse react to everything he saw. If he happened to be looking at a horse leaving camp when I took his pulse with a stethoscope, it might be 80. I'd go back to sponging thinking he was far from down. After we got the hand held and Bill started *keeping* it on him we'd see him jump to 80, then look back at his hay and go back to maybe 64. I was wasting a lot of time before we got the hand held. Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
