Is
anyone using injectable glycosamines? Do you have a reasonably priced
source? Or are there oral supplements that work as well. My vet suggests
all endurance horses should be on adequan but that looks pretty
expensive. Thanks, Lynette
I have used a generic that is $50 a bottle, 9 1/2 months if you inject once
a month after the pre-dosing of 2 shots, 10 cc two weeks apart then
once a month. For 5$ a dose, I would keep doing it and pray for no contamination
in the bottle from the lab that manufactured it. A vet here sells it but he
reminds me of the snake oil salesman of the 1800's. I gave my daughters 4-H pony
a shot, IV, of "generic" Legend 2 1/2 months ago and he has not taken a lame
step since. He is now late on having his shoes pulled and is still sound. I
would do injectable Hyoluranate Acid in a heart beat. It was $47.50 vs. $81.50
for Legend. I would do both if I can get the glucosamine, injectable,
again. For my money, HA is the best bang for the buck. I had the pony on
oral HA for over two years and now that I know, injectable is the only way to
go. I will use the rest of the Conquer (oral HA) on myself and the other two
that have had nothing added to their regime. Beccy in Utah, yeh, SNOW!!!!! We
will have water next year.
