Maybe the reason is because they don't offer BC in LD.  Maybe the times would 
be faster if it was offered.  Just food for thought.

<sigh>  Carolyn, the point of the comparison is that one region (the NW)
has been offering LD BC for years, and the other region (the W) has not
been.  And the numbers are virtually identical.  I don't think that W
region riders are a different species--if the LD BC has not sped up LD
rides in years of use elsewhere, why on earth would it speed up rides
in the W region??  Just food for thought...
