RE: [RC] Racing and LD BC - heidiWhat vets? Could you please name at least two vets in at least two regions that have refused to give ANY Best Condition award to LD horses. I know that there are plenty of vets in the West and Pacific Southwest who give BC awards without using the AERC BC form because of its inclusion of placing and speed, but that's not the same as saying they are not willing to use these awards at all.Some have been previously mentioned in this forum. Since I don't work with them, I can't remember which ones they were--but hopefully those who have ridden there and have provided that information in the past will do so again. I meant to add to this that I think the "no BC at all" is more common in the W than in the PS. I've vetted in the PS, where RMs have offered something other than the AERC BC, and I gathered that it was not unusual there to do something like that. But in the past, we've heard from RMs in the W who have made comments to the effect that their vets refuse to judge any sort of LD BC at all because it takes too much of their time--even in the face of requests from those RMs to do SOME kind of a BC. This was thoroughly aired one of the earlier times that LD BC came around on RC.
