[RC] Cribbing - L gin

Is it really "cribbing" which is an endorphin releasing to the brain "fix" for the horse--- and they NEVER stop it---only a collar will deter some, but it has to stay on. It is an addictive coping behavior. The newest research I read says they think it is because the foal was weaned young and on grain as opposed to horses raised in more natural feed , pasture conditons.
Or are you talking about "wood chewers" . They don't suck air, they just chew on wood, trees , barns fences etc. You can fence them off critical areas, use hardware cloth, wire on your stall etc.
I have a 'wood chewer", he has taught horses in other places to chew too, I believe they like to eat wood...... perfer particular trees too... but recntly I heard it could be a mineral defienceny , particulary selenuim...... a new product called QUITT is supoosed to guarrentee they stop in a week. It has lots of Vitamin A ,a d selenium among other thiings in it. Not enough hay is not the cuse although it may start it. This horse was strved at one time. But he taught my others.... and no matter where he has lived , he does it. He just likes wood........ (bth way he has hay 24/7 and some pasture.
