RE: [RC] Impressive Records & Such - heidiLet's not forget RT Muffin. For some reason he's always eclipsed by Rio. But, as far as I know, Muffy still holds the record for AERC wins & BCs. He has just over 9K miles spanning at least 16 years of running up front, and many just-over-9 hour 100s (so none of the blistering 7 hour 100s seen in the desert flat races). Thank you, Nicole. I was wondering if anyone would bring him up. Yes, he was the winningest horse of all time in AERC. He earned over 100 BC awards, and had even more wins than BCs. (The number 117 comes to mind, but I haven't gone back and checked.) He started out at a blistering pace at age 5, and ran until he was 20 or so. And I haven't had time to go back and check it out, but I know he has at least one sub-3 50-miler--I was vetting the day he ran that one, and it was mind-boggling. Course conditions were ideal--sand that had been lightly packed by rain the day before, but the weather had dried out, and it was cool. There is no doubt in my mind that he could have run a sub-8 100 had he ever been on a course conducive to that. He was one awesome horse.
