LD's at our multiday rides (3 days)- but logistics is a big problem. We do 50
mile loops out of basecamp, so it's a challenge trying to include a 25 or 30
mile loop - it means you have to have a vet check (and staff) no farther
than 15 miles from camp, somebody needs to stay in camp (or get back to camp) to
start/finish the LD's - The only other option is to have them ride half the loop
and then find their own transportation back to basecamp (which is what DVE
does). But it's worth it, I really like seeing more locals come and ride,
and new riders, new horses, old riders, old horses. We do full awards, placing,
BC, etc - the same for everybody except I try to give better awards to the
longer distances. We also have overall multiday awards ' Owyhee Tough Sucker' if
you ride all 8 days of Endurance (any horse), and 'Owyhee Not Quite As Tough
Sucker' if you ride all 6 days (any horse) of LD. And then there's the Totally
Tough Sucker... that rare person that did them all. (Tom Noll was our 2005
Totally Tough Sucker - and actually did them all on Frank!)
