No, Truman, we can't.  Not until the people who blow past the conservative 50-milers 
stop doing that; not till the LD Top Ten riders stop demanding national recognition 
for BC's for a job that was a piece of cake; not till career LD riders realize that 
their demands for more awards, though not necessarily more respect, are hurting their 
fellow LD riders who are trying to learn the ropes of the sport.

I know some of the posts about Limited Distance rides seem harsh.  But the bottom 
line is this.  Do we want AERC to be about racing 25 miles, AND REWARDING IT,  or do 
we want it to be about enduring the physical challenges and metabolic changes that 
are encountered in traveling 50, 70 or 100 miles?  The two concepts are so totally 
anethma that they really cannot coexist.  So...
