[RC] How about novice class for LD? Nov issue EN - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Stacy Motschenbacher msmots13@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I liked the article in EN about LD. I would like to see the LD considered a legitamite ride. I think about my husband who has a tennessee walker. Neither husband nor horse have much interest in doing more than 30 miles. Because the LD is kind of considered the "training wheels" of endurance rides, it is not taken very seriously. What if AERC required a season, or so many rides (2-3?) as novice rides and that rider recieve no placing. After the novice period you receive a different AERC card, and compete for real points in the LD. I have also seen non AERC members that have never been to a ride race to the finish and top ten in the LD. I personally don't like to see that, this way folks would get an eduacation on endurance riding whether they want on or not. Think about all those husbands that stay in camp, or at home, that really don't want to do a 50, but are too proud to do a ride that is not taken seriously. We could get a lot more husbands out there, girls.
