This morning at 9am the Mariposa County Board of
Supervisors presented two placques to two "Mariposans" Shayna
Stephens
and her borrowed ride "Rocky" and Dale Hansell and
his horse "Solommon".
Although they did not "win" the ride,
these rider and horse combinations were the first
locals to cross the finish line at the Run for The Gold ride held earlier this
year in June.
Shayna and Rocky did the 25
LD. Dale
and Solommon where in the top ten for the 50.
The ride boasted participants from all over
California and Nevada. We started over 100 this year, the highest in the
ride's history.
Dale was on hand with his two sons to accept the
placque. Unfortunately Shayna could not be there so I accepted for
her.
Ride Manager, Bill Parker was present, along with
Club President, Becky Crafts.
It was really nice for the county to acknowledge
these riders and the hard work that they put in on training their horses to be
able to complete this years ride.
