[RC] - NancyToday I counted my blessings with an very dear friend I have known for 35 years. When we met in 1969 when she was fresh off the farm from Libby, Montana. We called her "Deanna from Montana who wore a red bandana." She was a real cow girl with pictures to prove it. As a city kid, I wondered how could Deanna leave her horse and come to live in a city, was she nuts? Today Deanna came to my ranch and we road along the creek and under the oaks. I found a bit of inner peace on the back of my horse today. Deanna's visit was to celebrate the life of Laura Garcia, an angel God lent the world for just a short time. Laura died at the age of 51 from uterine cancer. She was the kind of person who made the world a better place. The steady hoof beats of our horses seemed to steady our hearts as we moved down the trail. It is hard to understand why some things happen and some things don't. Together Deanna and I let the horses show us how to just be and enjoy the gifts we are given in spite of the losses when have endured. It was a good day today, it is good to be alive.
