Re: [RC] re: Australian saddles - Chris Paus

I had an aussie saddle once, a very expensive and well made one. Had it for a year, when i finally gave up and sold it. It seemed to work fine on my gelding until I did a 50mile ride and then he had horrible saddle sores on his back.

I had UTIs the whole time I had that saddle. When i sold it and got a different saddle, they went away. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until after I had a different saddle for a few months and realized I hadn't had to go to the doctor for awhile! I'm not sure what caused it... maybe the overgirth? Maybe the position it put me in for riding?

I did a ride on an Aussie saddle and the poleys just did touch my thigh
as I came up on the posting motion. By the end of 50 miles I was BRUISED
there. Make sure you don't get that sort of fit or you'll regret it!
