Re: [RC] Boots and vetting in - Zephyr ArabiansGiven that if you had regular Easyboots foamed on there's no chance you'd pull them for vetting, and furthermore horses with shoes -- including shoes w/ pads -- certainly don't have their shoes pulled for vetting, there's no reason not to vet with boots on. The most I've done is, quite reasonably, pulled the gaitor back on the Epics during the exam (not during the trot) so the vet can check for abrasions. If the vet area is clear & smooth, sure, vet without them. But, I can't see a reason the vets can give why you MUST vet without them. Hoof protection is hoof protection, and asking those with removeable protection to remove it while those with nailed on protection don't remove it is blatently unequal. That said, I only made it to three rides this year (all in Oregon, FWIW) and mostly I got friendly questions & comments from the vets (and other riders) about the Epics. ~Nicole Zephyr Arabians http://www.zephyrarabians.com KattWmn Web Design http://www.kattwmn.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
