RE: [SPAM] [RC] question about weight classes - heidiI am a newbie, (sort of...starting over after a 20 year layoff) and I was filling out my entry for a ride, and came across the weight classes part (I don't remember this part from long ago) anyway, with my tack I am right on the edge of featherweight and the next one up depending on what saddle I use, or what clothes I wear , or whether or not I've done my poop for the day! Should I just go into the heavier class to be sure? My husband said "just lose 10 pounds and you won't have to worry about it", Right! (Like it's soooo easy to lose 10 pounds!) Do you get weighed at every ride? And how strict are they about it? And, do you also weigh all the crap in your saddle bags etc.,? Thanks! Vicki It is ok to be a bit heavier than your weight division, but it is not ok to be too light. So if there are days that you really will weigh less than a lightweight, you are best to sign up as a featherweight. No, you don't get weighed at every ride, unless you are in the Top Ten and stand for BC. But it is unfair to true lightweights to have to compete against someone lighter than the cut-off for their division, and even if you are not in the Top Ten, you might affect the placement of someone running for division points. Yes, you weigh all that stuff in your saddle bags, if you carry it with you all day. Hope this helps.
