[RC] rude riders - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: rob losey jrlosey@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I did premis my post with the fact that I am a new rider. Only three LDs under my belt. I'm lucky that my rides have been in Michigan. What I've seen riding or volunteering is that Rider Courtesy is the norm here. I didn't mean to imply that the passing rider shouldn't be safe and courteous. Both rider should. I've just had more experance being passed than passing. I did pass one lady once I slowed and called ahead "Permission to pass on your left, Madam". She moved over but sure gave me a funny look. I did know that it was rude to ride over hikers not just with horses/mules but also with cars, ORVs and motercycles. Racing for the finish seem to be in the last 25 miles of the 25LDs around here. In my life I've been flamed, bashed, and have upset some people. I don't try to cause that reaction. When that happens I try to think it out from their prospective. If it's my fault or not I'll try to do what I can to avoid it happening again. If moving to the side of the trail when I hear a rider coming up fast from behind will avoid a crash, I'll do it. I don't want to be in a crash wether it's my fault or not. Courtesy is not just doing what you should do, but doing all you can do. I ride a large 1300 lb. mule. In case of a bad crash I wouldn't want to have to pay a Vet. to remove a 750 lb. Arab from her back-end, plus something like that might be darn uncomfortably for my Annabelle.
