Re: [RC] [RC] rude riders revisited - Lady MonalainaI think just like any sport it is "life" to someone. I don't mind the people who feel this way and more power to them for doing something they love. I find that the riders are ruder to other riders and not so much to the volunteers, as some of them are actually ride managers or volunteers themselves. They taylor their lives around the sport. They spend years breeding and training to eventually compete with their horses. They relocate and move to areas for the sole purpose of living on or near some of the best trails available for training. They may not be the majority - but there are many endurance riders who consider this to be their life. And those who I'm thinking of, who fit into that category, are also advocates of good examples - idols to be respected - not just for their accomplishments, but as endurance riders in general - full of gratitude, appreciation, and a steady willingness to help. I guess it CAN be your life - whole heartedly - and you can still have the decency to be polite and appreciative at rides - racing or not. He even mentioned he avoidsriding on the day ofthe ride on those trails, as he just does not want todeal with "enduranceriders"...... It is even MORE sad that the smart mouths whogenerally DO this are peoplewho seriously need a life. Endurance racing/ridingis not LIFE! It is asport, a hobby, a pastime, not LIFE. If people would HAVEsomething that theyconsider more important than this sport (not thatwe all don't just LOVEit) - such as a good job, friends, a precious family, faith -then perhaps theywouldn't be SO twisted in the britches whensomething like aninexperienced in timer slows them down by half a second. Frankly, theonly real issues that needbiting on most of the time are - enough WATER forthe horses, and enoughCOMPETENT vets. (Not to include cousin Jimmy whois brand new to thefield). It just isn't life, peeps. s _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
