Re: [RC] [RC] hot shoeing/hot fitting - Juli JakubSame here. They are never tacked on hot he cools them first and when he hot fits them it is for only a second and there is barely any smoke. My horses never even notice what is going on. When he hot fits the shoe is also not red hot. It was interesting to me that some people forge their own but fit them cold. I have never seen that. Up here you have farriers with a forge and farriers without. The ones with a forge all hot fit unless asked otherwise. Of course we have maybe four farriers in a 150 mile radius!! That might be an exxageration but there really are very few around here. This has been a great discussion. It is always good to hear what other people think about big issues like this.
