[RC] Selling Horse - Donna CossSomeone mentioned that the Emirates were purchasing horses from the French, Australia etc. These comments are for information only, as many of you are not particularly interested in keeping up with the breeding behind many of the endurance horses of today! The Anglo/Arab is of particular interest, but the point I want to make, is the fact that in France, the Anglo/Arab is not the same horse as it is in the U.S.AHA rules that only 1/2 Arab/Half Throughbred is allowed. In Europe an Anglo/Arab may be a combination of Shagya Arabian and Thoroughbred. AHA does not recoginze the Shagya Arabian, because it is a BREED, not a strain of Arabian. In fact the European shows have classes for Purebred Arabians, Shagya Arabians and Anglo Arabians. But these Anglos, many times are combinations of Shagya, OX and TB. I believe that must be 1/4 Arabian, Shagya or OX. The French have perfected this Shagya cross into their Anglos and have been quite successful, even in the Olympic sports. Georgat, the French mare, with the World Champion records, is Shagya bred and for a good reason! Anyone know what price was paid for Georgat? -- www.shagyasport.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
