As long as there is gross overbreeding (a lot of it done under the guise of "adoption"--ever notice how many horses up for "adoption" are less than a year old, not old or unsound?), prices are low. If your buyer can find what they want (a finished endurance horse for under $1500), they'll go elsewhere. If they can't find it, they'll be back for your $3500 finished horse. I feel sorry for honest sellers in this environment. I would love to be in the horse business, but after serious consideration in choosing a career, chose to go with a non-horsey career that pays enough to support my horse habit.
