[RC] Beware: Dogs/horse wormer in horse poop? - cheval

My dogs did suffer some ill effects last year. I had wormed four horses the day before with ivermectrin and in the morning the dogs went out and were "browsing". Later, much to the detriment of my carpet, they all suffered from severe bout of diarrhea. So after that incident, I make sure that they do not have any contact with horse poop after worming the horses.

Considering how much a horse poops in 24 hours and that the drug is absorbed
into the body and expelled over some time, I wouldn't be too worried about
the dogs overdosing on wormer in the poop. I've never heard of a dog
becoming sick from wormer in poop and I've known plenty of dogs that love
their road apples!
