Re: [RC] status reportoon Oconee WMA ride - rdcarrie Wow, that really sucks. Just wondering...any chance you could work with your local DNR folks to get "official" designated public use horse trails?

Last week, that topic really hit our home. Our DNR guy called to notify us that the Georgia WRD has decided, in their infinite wisdom(?) that unless your wildlife management area has existing, designated public use horse trails, there are NO horses allowed. No special use permits, no bikers, no rock climbers, no orienteering. They don't want you there. The lower level DNR guys are mad, because they want people to use the land. So...the OCONEE ride is now, officially out of existence. I appreciate everyone who came to ride with us over the years and hope all of you ride well and safely! Keep your ears and eyes open...if it can happen in Georgia, it can happen in your state.
