RE: [RC] [RC] Saddle fitting madness-stop! - Juli JakubI tend to agree to a point. I have treeless and a treed and I have made both work for a variety of horses. Any saddle has its problems and you just have to get on, ride, and do some creative fixing if there is a major problem. The perfect saddle search will never end because there is no perfect saddle that will fit every horse and every person. It is important that the horse is comfortable, but buying every high priced saddle that comes around on a continuous merry go round of saddles doesn't help either. Look at the saddle, determine the problem and shim and pad to fix it. I was driving myself crazy with the saddle search until I decided to just deal with what I had and make it work. My horses backs are not sore at all!! ( except the TB I am rehabbing but she has a sore back on principle!) And even hers is getting better. I think saddling is becoming way too complicated and it is scaring people and that is never good! We need to simplify the process so that people are not scared of the "saddle search"!

Juli Jakub

The Air of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.

~ arabian proverb

This whole subject....it seems to be 75% nonsense...unless the humans involved don't really WANT to ride the horse,in which case it makes a kind of sense.... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
