RE: [RC] Gooseneck hitch question - Jim HollandWhat model is he recommending? Be sure you buy one that allows you to flip the ball to get a flat bed. I have owned two types. The first one was a "flip over ball" that you simply rotated and lifted the ball, removed it, and re-inserted it upside down. No tools. Worked great...loved that one. When I bought my current truck, the dealer had the hitch installed. It "folds down". Hate the dang thing. You need a wrench to loosen a plate, you have to fold the ball down, then replace the plate. In addition, it has "slop" in the pivot, so when the trailer transitions from you pulling it to it pushing you, it gives me a "clank". It's not a safety issue, but it is a nuisance. Have a '06 Ford diesel super crew with a seven-foot bed. Want to hook it up to a Silver Lite gooseneck (seven-foot wide). Does anyone have any experience doing so with an Atwood gooseneck hitch over the rear axle? That's what the hitch guy recommends. Which hitch brands are good, and are there any would you avoid?
