Re: [RC] RC: Alfalfa Pellets - Chris PausWell, apparently, not picky enough! this summer I got several bags of moldy Equine senior. boujght them from different stores, so it wasn't a problem with just one store. My stallion was getting sicker and sicker until I figured it out and switched feeds. I've also found huge chunks of sticky molasses and who knows what else in bags of their senior feed.
They may have the best research in the industry, but look at the labels on thier feed and then labels on other brands of feed. Purina will never give you exact ingredients... it's "grain byproducts" forage products, etc. I'm now buying "Kent' brand feeds. They tell you the exact percentage of rice bran, of beet pulp, of alfalfa, etc in each bag of feed. With Purina's loose lableing, they can't be held to a certain amount of any one type of grain or forage. They can buy what's cheapest on the market.
Their response to me when I wrote them a bout the moldy feed was less than helpful. I'm gone.
