RE: [RC] Alfalfa Pellets - heidiWell - my question is...have any of you all fed your horses these alfalpha pellets? What are the pros and the cons. I'm not a fan of processed type of feed as I always try to keep things as natural as possible. But I also want to see other people's point of view. Any personal experiences with it would be greatly appreciated. The pellets are no substitute for long-stem forages. That said, I did get by one winter many years ago when the only hay I could get was clean, palatable, but very un-nutritious, by feeding alfalfa pellets in addition to free-feeding the hay. It was kind of a pain in the neck, but my horses didn't seem any the worse for wear. I do still feed alfalfa pellets occasionally as a part of the mix for geriatrics that have difficulty eating.
