[RC] Funny Heart Rate Story to share - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Char Antuzzi char.antuzzi@xxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I was riding the Virgina City 100 mile ride and had been using my heart rate monitor all day. No bad readings, everything was working great. On my last loop I am walking my horse and he seems to be fine. I look at my heart rate on my wrist and it says 135, hmmm. Kinda high for just walking but we'll see what happens. Still walking along, now its 145, what the heck is going on? I reach down feel my girth, its tight enough, hmmm. It is pitch dark but I feel the leads, they both are still plugged in. I break into a trot and a few minuets go by, I look at the heart rate monitor and it is now over 200! I jump off and look my dear horse who is looking back at me. I start to cry as I just know I am killing my horse, yet at the same time he looks pretty darn good for a horse that has a heart rate of now 215. I start to hit my heart rate monitor with my hand and it goes down to 35.. what the heck. Somehow the clock part of the heart monitor got turned on. It was 1am, then 1:30am, then 2am, then 2:15am. so be forewarned when you are on a 100 miler, your mind is shot, you are at 90 someodd miles your heart rate monitor can full you! Always pay attention to your horse and not the numbers. My horse looked really good with a heart rate of over 200. Char and Sir Galahad...My heart was fine but I was sorta tired =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
