Re: [RC] 88 WEC Trail - Sisu West Ranch"....true endurance trails like the OD, Big Horn, Tevis, etc...." I've been thinking about this this afternoon while repairing a roto-tiller. I came to the conclusion that I don't think a more technical trail will stop the trashing of horses. I suspect the win at all costs crowd will run the horses up and down the hills causing metobolic pulls like happened at the Washington Pan Am games. Even rock fields may not have the desired effect. I can imagine horses being run through rock fields resulting in falls and broken body parts on both horse and rider. Please don't get me wrong: I also would like to see world class events be conducted on world class technical trails. I just don't see that stopping horses from being run to fast. The only solution I can conceive could not ever possibly happen. The world championship should be a series of say 5 100 mile rides, a month or so apart. You would have to finish ALL of them with the same horse and rider to be considered for the championship. If nobody finishes, there would be no champion. That would be a true world endurance championship.
