[RC] Waterers - June Scheunemann & Mike BernsdorfWe just put in the
Nelson waterers at our new place (6 of them) What we did was have a hole
drilled over 6 foot deep and set a cement tube down the hole...this is to help
keep the wateres thawed using ground heat; plus we did have the
thermostats also placed in as being in Wisconsin one never knows what the temp.
will be at any given minute. Anyhow, so far so good!!!!!!!!! I love
them and so do the horses!!! We didn't have any trouble getting anyone to
drink from them. Of course it helped that the cement tubes were in before
the waterers were placed on top of them sooooooooooooooooo the horses coudl
actually investigate the tube and stick their noses in and just get use to these
tubes sticking out of the ground. Once everything was connected we kept
the troughs out in the pastures till we were sure we saw everyone ( yep,
all 20) drink from them.
I don't see how we
will have problems with mice with this kind of set up....will keep all posted if
I do notice a problem...but, my sis-in-law has had one for several years now and
never has had any problem at all with it.
