Re: [RC] Wickenburg Ride - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Bruce Weary, D.C. bweary@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== In response to your questions about the Wickenburg ride, it is very well run and almost a "catered" event. The vet check is a one hour hold, and the ride is well staffed with volunteers for P&Rs. You can have your horse checked every minute or two until he's recovered, and then your mandatory hold starts. If he doesn't recover in 30 minutes, he's out. They provide an array of people and horse food at the vet checks, but you should bring a horse blanket and any special feed for your horse you may want to use. If he is pulled, they have ambulance trailers that will take him back to base camp. You can drive yourself to the vet check. They will have maps on how to get there, or just follow the caravan first thing in the morning. Relax, and tell your husband to take a deep breath. You couldn't have chosen a more perfect ride for your first experience. As always, ride slow and get there quicker and safer. We will be there and doing the 25 also, as we are bringing a new horse along, as well as a rookie rider that we are introducing to the sport. There is quite a party that evening, which gets very "festive". I remember waking up face down on the pavement once or twice afterward.
