[RC] rc: 100 mile interviews - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: karen gardella billnkaren@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== After having completed my first 2 100 miles this past 2004,I look forward to riding many more 100's in 2005. I really enjoyed myself (after getting through the first 80 miles) and am very happy to look back at the accomplishment of completing a 100. And I have found out that it IS possible for just about anyone to accomplish a 100! However, I have a little problem... there are very few 100 mile rides listed in the Westcoast regions for 2005!! On the AERC 2005 Ride Calendar I only saw 2 100 mile rides for the West Region, 2 in the Pacific South region, and 7 100 mile rides in the Northwest region (way to go Northwesters!!!). How is a person supposed to try to ride more 100's when they are so few rides out there? I was just wondering why ride managers aren't offering them as much as they used? And there are even fewer FEI rides! I'm not so sure that it is the riders that AERC needs to be encouraging to try 100's or is it the ride managers that they should be encouraging to put more 100's on! There's probably alot of reasons that I'm not aware of why ride managers aren't holding as many 100 mile rides as they used to. I'm hoping that AERC can come up with a way to encourage and help ride managers to hold more 100s. It looks like I'll be doing alot of driving up to the NorthWest rides!! (I live in California).
