RE: [RC] Preparing a horse for ridecamp - Nancy SturmSomeone on Ridecamp suggested spending some time at a busy horse show, just walking around the grounds and tying where the trailers are parked - seemed like a good idea. One of mine, I tied on the Hi-tie in the parking area of a busy boarding facility. He camps like a dream and never turned a hair from the first time he was tied. The other (more reactive) I tied for several sessions in my own driveway. This was either not as effective or his personality is enough different that he would have been a little fussier anyway. We hauled several hours with a horse he'd never seen before, however, and by the time we got to camp he had a new best friend, so he did a lot better than I would have expected - really wasn't a problem. Have fun! Go ride. I have a horse that is a year or two away from our first official ride and she is a little on the "hot" side. How should I go about training her to handle the hustle and bustle around camp? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
