Re: [RC] [RC] riding along a busy road - Kathy RamspottI do have a rock steady girl that I am conditioning now. I have never had a problem hand walking a horse when I am too nervous so I can always do that need be and of course take the baby steps.I have ridden around the block (a few years back I did it bareback on a gelding I had, bless his heart he passed on with cancer) so I know that once I get my confidence back I could try this. I think part of it though to is my one and only BAD (multiple bones broken) accident was when we were riding along the road but she got pissed at me, it had nothing to do with cars. That mare is now a happy brood mare up in New York. I think it would be worth it regardless of some of the inherent dangers. Now that I know other folks are able to do this successfully I will give it a try. I'll tell myself that there may be roads on Endurance rides I want to do someday so better to get them used to it now. :-) Thanks everyone. People honk and yell at you, but I get my horse accustomed to that on my own before I even take him on the road. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
