[RC] Owyhee Canyonlands - Steph TeeterWeather forecast looks great, trails are getting marked, 60+ pre-registrations, we're looking forward to another Owyhee party! A few announcements: - if you're coming from the east (Utah, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico) Idaho requires a health permit, and statement that your horse has not been in contact with any animals diagnosed with VS. (more info at http://www.agri.state.id.us/Categories/Animals/importExport/indeximportexpor t.php ) - we will have alfalfa and grass hay for sale, certified hay is not required here . Plenty of water for stock and people. - weather forecast is for a cold front moving through this weekend, temps dropping into the 50's & 60's, then warming back up to 70's by Tuesday. Nights have been cool, but no frost yet. Bring bug spray in case the gnats get bad (if it gets hot). - some of the trail is rocky, we recommend easyboots or pads in front if you're going to be going fast. There's plenty of good footing, so you can still make time w/o hurrying over the rocky sections. There's also sand, so if you pad make sure you use a good packing underneath (equi-pak). We'll have a farrier here off & on. - Saturday (day 5) we WILL have the costume contest! We're also having a 10 mile Trail/Fun ride. - Canadian entries at par, Juniors half price! We're always looking for volunteers so bring spouses and friends :) See you soon!
